Business Growth and Support Limited – Environmental Policy
Our commitment to the community
Venues are chosen for their accessibility to public transport, their spirit, ethos and adherence to ‘green’ values and environmental practices.
Venues are preferred if they offer work opportunities to local people, have a charitable or voluntary element.
Meeting refreshments are Fair Trade where possible and we prefer to serve tap water.
Travel
Locations are chosen for their catchment area of attendees. All attendees are encouraged where practical, to use public transport or to car share.
The use of email, Skype and telephone are used as much as possible to minimise travel impact.
Our advisers work from home as much as possible to minimise commute hours and environmental impact.
Our advisers plan their diaries to ensure all car journeys are as short as possible and routes between meetings are circuitous to keep mileage as low as possible.
Our cars have small engines and are routinely maintained for peak performance and reduce pollution.
Energy
The office is lit by low energy bulbs. The building has cavity wall insulation. All our electronic equipment is never left on ‘stand by’ and is set to turn off after a period of inactivity. Our batteries are safely recycled.
Waste Management
Our organic waste is composted. Our office cleaning materials are organic and bio degradable. Our confidential waste is shredded and composted. Our paper waste is recycled. We try to ensure both sides of paper are printed. Items such as used envelopes are fully exploited as message paper, etc. We communicate electronically as much as possible. We prefer to promote our services by word of mouth and client recommendation. Where we have to print posters or leaflets, they use recycled paper and biodegradable inks. Waste electrical and electronic equipment is safely disposed according to the WEEE Regulations 2006.
